How to use the Aetna Health app
Our mobile app is the fastest, easiest way to access your Aetna benefits and find other resources and tools. Use this guide to discover more about how it works.
Think about how much you already do on your phone — connecting with friends, banking, shopping and so much more. Mobile apps have made everyday tasks easier. And now managing your health care is just as convenient.
The Aetna Health app puts your plan benefits and information all in one place. With just a few taps, you can check coverage details, find providers, track costs, submit claims, access discounts and more. This guide walks you through how to get started and use the tools that help you most.
1. Download the app and sign in
Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad. Or go to Google Play if you have an Android device. Search for Aetna Health then tap Get or Install.
If you previously created an account on the Aetna member website, enter the same username and password. If you’re new, tap the link to create an online account and follow the steps. You’ll need either your Aetna ID, which you can find on your ID card or statement, or the last four digits of your Social Security number.
2. Explore your health care home base
The app’s home screen is your starting point and portal into all the information and resources available to you. Along the top, you’ll see quick buttons for your member ID card, quick care options such as urgent care facilities and virtual mental health care and an explanation of benefits that breaks down what’s covered, co-pays and more.
You’ll also see a benefits overview showing how much you’ve spent on medical, dental, and/or pharmacy expenses and tracks progress toward your deductible. From there, you can tap into spending details and plan documents.

3. Manage costs and claims
At-a-glance personalized cost-tracking makes it clear what you’ve paid for both in-network and out-of-network care, and what’s left of your deductible and out-of-pocket maximum.
Tap Claims from the tabs along the bottom of the home screen, and for each submitted, you’ll see detailed information like the provider, date, and status (processed or pending). You can go further and see a donut chart that shows how much your plan covers and what you owe or paid. Eligible members can even snap a photo of your provider bill, and the app matches it with the right claim.
4. Put your personal AI health assistant to work
At the top of the home screen, use the search bar to ask questions about your plan, coverage or the app, or enter your symptoms. You’ll get personalized answers, easy-to-understand information and recommended providers so you can make better decisions about your health and access care quickly.
Another option: Click the smart chat icon (it looks like a speech bubble) for live help with anything regarding your plan or the app. You can also connect with an agent any time.
5. Simplify your health care experience
Aetna Care Paths is a digital tool based on your health history that’s available for some members. It provides a centralized location for a range of information about a condition or topic. For example, if you have arthritis, you may be eligible for the Joint Health Care Path. You’d see a personalized view of relevant benefits, your specialized care team, and recommendations for programs and services to support you on your health journey.
6. Connect with care that fits your needs
The Find Care tab on the bottom of the screen is a one-stop shop for finding providers, facilities, labs, hospitals and more. You can use the SmartCompare feature to weigh options based on location, hours and other preferences and needs.
Likewise, if you need a simple flu shot or other vaccine — or need to see someone ASAP — the app has you covered. Schedule vaccine appointments at CVS or other providers right in the app and find urgent care facilities, MinuteClinic locations and virtual-care options.
7. Keep track of prescriptions
Use the Prescriptions tab along the bottom of the screen to see a list of all current and past medications. You can also order prescriptions and request refills.
8. Find forms
Want your caregiver or other trusted person to have access to your account? Did you pay for a covered expense and need to be reimbursed? Scroll down to the “Find a form” section at the bottom of the page to see information on how to file a claim, appoint a representative and more.
