Did you know your Aetna Medicare Advantage plan can help you cut costs as you work toward your health goals? These four strategies will help you keep your well-being on track — and your money in your wallet.

1. Stay in network 

When you choose a provider that is “in network,” you can expect to pay less. That’s because we negotiate prices with certain doctors, specialists, hospitals and surgical centers. By staying in network, you are working with health care providers that we have cost-saving agreements with. 

Do you need help finding a provider who accepts Aetna? We make it easy with our find-a-doctor digital tool. To use the tool, go to AetnaMedicare.com and select the “Find a doctor or prescription” button. Then enter your ZIP code to start your search for an in-network doctor in your area. You can also use this tool to find a network hospital or pharmacy. A Member Services Advocate can also help you find a doctor in network. You can call 1-833-570-6670 (TTY: 711) between 8 AM and 8 PM, 7 days a week.

2. Use a preferred pharmacy

With your Aetna plan, your prescriptions will only be covered by your plan if you use an in-network pharmacy. Many plans include standard and preferred pharmacies. Both are in-network, but you may be able to fill your prescriptions for less at preferred pharmacies. That’s because they can offer a lower copay. In this case, copay refers to the amount you pay when you get a prescription filled.

To find preferred pharmacies near you, visit AetnaMedicare.com/FindPharmacy to use our “Find a Pharmacy” tool. It’s updated every two weeks to help you find the latest pharmacy network information.

3. Use your member discounts

Your Aetna plan may also include discounts on health-related products and services like:

• Health and fitness programs
   
• Brain game apps
   
• Meal delivery (if you qualify), including specialty meal options for heart health, renal diabetics, vegetarians and more
   
• Access to a lively and robust network of virtual and in-person clubs and activity groups
   
• Devices to help you keep tabs on your health, including blood pressure monitors, pedometers and activity trackers

4. Review the formulary

A formulary is a list of drugs covered by your health plan. It can give you estimated monthly costs and premiums for prescription drugs. Plus, you can get valuable information on whether your prescriptions require preauthorization, or if there are limits on the number of days you can get.

How to use the Aetna formulary

You can access the Aetna formulary online to see if your drugs are covered Plus, you can search for generics, look at lower-tier options that may help you save money and get price estimates Here’s how: 

1. Go to AetnaMedicare.com/Formulary.
2. Enter your ZIP code and select the “Search 2023 drug list.” “Find 2023 drug name.” button.
3. Select your Medicare plan.
4. Type in the name of your prescription drug. Choose the dosage amount and quantity you need.
5. Enter your pharmacy ZIP code and select “Search.”.
6. Review your drug cost.

Save a trip to the pharmacy 

You can order up to a 100-day supply of certain medicines and have them shipped right to you. Log in to your member website at AetnaMedicare.com/Login to learn more.
